BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)
is the amount of energy released in the quiescent state in a temperature-neutral fasting environment. The energy output in this state is only due to the work of vital organs, such as the heart, lungs, brain, and the rest of the nervous system, the liver, the kidneys, the genital organs, the muscles, and the skin.
